This week we had Mary Scott give a presentation on the documentary that she produced with her co-producer Abby Dress. The film is “Wings of Our Own” and will be shown for the first time Monday Nov 29th. Their will be a reception with cocktails and the details are below.
The film is about women aviators and the contribution that women have made to aviation over the years. The film features many Long Island women. Mary revealed some statistics that were new information to most of us. For example, in the early days of aviation 6% of the pilots were women, and almost all of them were not proffessional pilots.  Today that percentage remains the same, but 85% of them, are proffessional pilots. On the other hand the majority of the male pilots are not proffessional pilots.
