John Avlon, a candidate for Congress in New York’s 1st District, is focused on tackling the cost of living crisis, uplifting small businesses, and rebuilding the middle class. As an author, presidential historian, and former CNN Anchor, John has consistently advocated for bipartisan approaches that help everyday Americans. His priorities include securing federal investment to make our communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change, improving our local infrastructure transportation, and helping working families get ahead. John believes in protecting reproductive freedom for women, restoring state and local tax deductions, expanding the child tax credit, and ensuring public safety as a fundamental human right.

John is a native New Yorker, grandson of immigrants, and has made his home in Suffolk County with his wife and two children. He values the sense of community here and is committed to maintaining the shared values that define our region. With his extensive background in addressing the challenges of polarization and extremism, John is running for Congress to work to strengthen our democracy, improve our standard of living, and make government work again.
