He spent 25 years with the New York City Department of Correction\, rising from correction officer to Deputy Commissioner of Operations\, and serving in key roles including the Emergency Service Unit and Firearms and Tactics Unit. \nElected in 2018 as Suffolk County’s 67th Sheriff and the first African American elected to a non judicial countywide office\, he is now serving his second term. As Suffolk County’s highest ranking law enforcement official\, he leads innovative efforts to reduce crime and recidivism\, while implementing responsible fiscal policies to serve over 1.5 million residents. \nSheriff Toulon has developed impactful programs targeting human trafficking\, violent crime\, and successful reentry for formerly incarcerated individuals. He holds degrees from Monroe College\, Dowling College\, and Long Island University\, and has received national recognition for his leadership in corrections and law enforcement.
