Networking begins at 8:30 am and the tour will commnece at 9:00 am. When you arrive at the plant\, please follow the signs for the event. \nCaithness Long Island\, LLC began commercial operation of its 350 MW natural gas fired power generating facility on August 1\, 2009. It was the first major baseload power plant to be built on Long Island in over thirty years. It currently supplies 10% of LI’s Electricity. Employing newer technology means that the CLIEC plant: \n\nProduces less emissions than the region’s older power plants\nSaves LIPA ratepayers approximately $40 million in annual fuel costs

DESCRIPTION:Register Here:\nAbout Robert Bender \nRobert B. Bender\, seasoned sales\, marketing\, and business development executive with expertise in directing creative initiatives. Robert B. Bender the Founder\, and President of The R.B. Bender Group has 50 years of experience in industrial marketing and sales\, with an extensive knowledge of machinery\, materials and manufacturing techniques. He has worked for Borg-Warner & Sumitomo Heavy Industries\, and sold industrial products to General Motors\, Ford\, Bethlehem Steel\, U.S. Steel\, Lever Brothers\, Keyspan\, National Grid\, Amtrak\, New York City Department of Environmental Protection\, and Long Island Railroad. He is known for creative problem solving at all corporate levels\, including executive\, engineering\, maintenance\, and purchasing. Robert holds advanced degrees from Drexel University\, Hofstra University\, and Morse Institute of Technology. He is the President of The Association for Facilities Engineering\, New York\, Long Island Chapter since 2007 and sits on the Board of Directors for AFE International. Also sits on the board of LIMBA (Long Island\, Metro Business Association). \n  \nAbout Dorian Dale \nDorian Dale serves as director of sustainability and chief recovery officer for Suffolk County. Operating at the nexus of these two positions\, County Executive Steve Bellone’s “Reclaim Our Waters” program seeks to mitigate the nutrient loading that has degraded our wetland defenses and surrounding ecosystems even as it threatens our groundwater. Dale served as vice-chair on the Superstorm Sandy Task Force and oversees extended recovery and mitigation in Sandy’s wake and in the face of sea-level rise. He played an elemental role in securing a substantial 9-figure Federal grant for major sewer infrastructure projects as well as two 7-figure grants for wetland restoration. He was one of the principal authors of the Suffolk County Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan. \nAs co-architect\, with County Executive Bellone\, of Long Island Green Homes\, the first operational residential property-assessed clean energy (PACE) program in the country\, Dale was named the Eighth Citi Distinguished Fellow\, NYU Stern School of Business. He served as a director for the original Earth Day in 1970\, on the original planning committee of the Urban Sustainability Directors Network\, and serves on the External Review Committee for the NYS-DEC Environmental Excellence Awards. He is chief strategic officer for the Suffolk County Land Bank\, surrogate commissioner on the Pine Barrens Commission\, serves on Suffolk County’s Aquaculture Lease Board\, and represents the County Executive on the Long Island Commission for Aquifer Protection as well as the South Shore Estuary Reserve Council. He is a member of the Associations of Old Crows and Former Intelligence Officers. \n
